Disability Equality

This is a research project on social exclusion. I chose my topic on disability equality: the job opportunity of visually impaired people in Hon Kong. After weeks of research and visiting the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, I designed a poster in response to the issue.

In my research, I found out misunderstandings and general representations among the Hong Kong society of visually impaired people in workplace and employment affected their right of being employed. To achieve an inclusive society, the general public should remove their preconception of visually impaired people and have a deeper understanding on them.

The statement “Sight with Prejudice is Blind” is embossed on a while paper. As a result, audience cannot see it clearly in distance, instead, it requires them to look closely and feel the words. This gives a similar experience of reading Braille letters. There are also actual braille letters on top of the hastag in the top right corner. Using this approach, it provides a chance for audience to reflect and interact with the poster.
